“The Little Cottage Antiques” was a name that came by chance.
Prior to the February 1 opening, Ripon residents Sharon and Dave Sanchez were working on the historic downtown boutique and noticed the detached structure.
“It looked like a cottage,” said Sharon Sanchez, who operated two similar type businesses in Modesto and twice in Oakdale. “This is where the name took off.”
What about the antique store that offers a mix of new and old goods?
She noted, “We are asked this all the time – where are you?”
The address is 113 E. Main St. – on the same side of the street as Ripon Roadhouse, A Matter of Taste Wine Bar & Bistro, and Las Casuelas Mexican Restaurant – but to get to Little Cottage Antiques you have to drive into the parking lot parking side where East Main Street and South Industrial Avenue meet.
Little Cottage Antiques is in a self-contained building facing the parking spaces, equipped with a front lawn, plants and a fence adorned with a star and stripe bunting.
New inventory includes distressed-look ball caps, a range of AWSB soaps, Swan Creek candles, wine stoppers, potpourri, rice and silk papers, paintbrushes, soap. Dixie Belle mineral paint, coffee mugs and other gift ideas.
Forget today’s pre-assembled pressed wood furniture – The Little Cottage Antiques offers quality, old-fashioned items such as drawers, dividers, tables, and more.
“We’re going to paint it to fit,” said Sharon Sanchez, who is also an interior designer.
The Little Cottage Antiques is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
