EXCLUSIVE: Seth Meyers and his brother Josh are heading to space for their latest project, sort of.
The couple are developing an animated series for Peacock about humanity’s first space colony.
Colony 2 received a script engagement from the streamer and is produced by Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions, Bento Box Entertainment and Universal Television. The project is created and written by the Meyers.
When a team of the greatest scientific minds arrive on a distant planet to start humanity’s first space colony, they discover that due to technological advancements on Earth, they have come in second. It forces them to come to grips with the question, when you’ve been number one all your life, what happens when you find out that you are actually number two?
This is the first major project to be revealed after the Late at night with Seth Meyers the host has entered into a comprehensive deal with Universal Studio Group as part of his deal that will see him continue to watch closely late into the night for NBC.
Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions also produces Peacock’s AP Bio and The Amber Ruffin Show.
Josh Meyers was a cast member of MADtv and starred in series including The Mindy project and Amazon Red oaks.
It is also the latest series from Fox-owned animation studio Bento Box, which makes series that include Bob’s Burgers, Duncanville and The big North for its parent company as well as series such as The prince for HBO Max, Central park for Apple and Koala man for Hulu.
Seth Meyers, Mike Shoemaker, Josh Meyers and Jason Carden will be the executive producers. Scott Greenberg and Joel Kuwahara will be executive producers for Bento Box Entertainment.
