Thousands of dollars in antiques were stolen from CherryPicked Collectibles in Oliver BC on Monday.
According to the owner, Derrick Robson, many of the items taken were rare and on consignment.
âI had a large selection of rare hockey cards, I had a collection of 1835 Canadian and US currency and sports memorabilia,â he said.
Robson added that the thieves also seized antique jewelry, an 1860 baseball glove and a rare McCormick saddle.
âIt’s destroyed inside, five cabinets have broken glass. I have damaged antique pedal cars for children. It’s going to take a while to fix everything, âadded Robson.

Unfortunately, Robson says the insurance doesn’t cover stolen antiques, only the crates in which they were stored.
But despite the damage, Robson remains positive and says he hopes to rebuild in a month.
“I understand where they are coming from,” he said. âI am a former counselor for young drug addicts; I am well aware of the struggles people have.
âYou can’t paint everyone with the same brush. We just need to come together to support each other and for everyone in business. “
The incident is being investigated and the RCMP are asking anyone with information about the break-in to contact them.
âThis gentleman, a resident of Oliver, is a very positive person and people really love his business,â said the RCMP Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth.
“It is truly unfortunate, and we are doing what we can to help and will continue our investigation.”
