Into the Spider-Verse Fan Animation puts miles into a LEGO world

Fan animation sees even more worlds collide in the Spider-Verse as Miles Morales is transported from his dimension to the world of LEGO.

A piece of fan animation sends Spider-Man: Into The Spider-VerseMiles Morales in a world of LEGO alongside his version of Spider-Man and Doc Ock.

Host David MacKenzie’s 54-second animation was shared on Reddit and social media. While the animation is all CGI, the visual style is a blend of the original movie and the iconic LEGO look. Miles seems to be snatched straight from his world with his design of Into the Spider-Verse virtually unchanged, just like the other Spider-Men in the film. Despite the short duration of the clip, it doesn’t take long for Miles to immediately team up with a LEGO Spidey vs. Doc Ock.

The animation even got some recognition from one of the co-producers of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, as Christopher Miller retweeted the clip. While the animation is of course a tribute to Miller’s work with Spider-Man, it can also be seen as a tribute to the creator’s bond with LEGO. In 2014, Miller and Phil Lord released the critically acclaimed film Lego movie, which has since spawned a direct sequel and spin-off The Lego Batman movie.

The premise of the original film saw many iterations of the web head run through Miles’ world, so the fan animation deviates slightly by having Miles Morales be the one to jump in dimensions. During the film, Miles also met several Peter Parkers and even Olivia Octavius / Doc Ock from his own world. A sequel is in production and is currently targeting a release in late 2022.

David MacKenzie is currently a Studio Development Facilitator working for IoM Media Ventures. He also has an Instagram account where he showcases some of his personal animation projects, including iconic characters like Avatar Aang and Pikachu.

Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2 hits theaters on October 7, 2022.
