Batman Batusis and Alfred Twerks in festive animation

A host of Batman characters break it down for a hilarious video referencing several iterations of the Caped Crusader, from the ’60s to the present day.

Batman does the Batusi, Batgirl pulls off impressive breakdance moves and Alfred twerks his rear in a hilarious video originally produced four years ago that has gone viral again.

“Batman Dance Party,” originally created by Monster Truck Ninja TV in 2018, hit Twitter on September 17 to coincide with Batman Day, DC’s celebration of all things Caped Crusader. The animation features over 40 Batman-related characters that are inspired by the classic 1960s TV show theme starring Adam West and Burt Ward as the dynamic duo.

The Batman video remains one of the most popular clips produced by Monster Truck Ninja TV, an animation studio in the United States and Colombia that now produces dance clips and collectible NFT characters under the Bacano Go name. Although presented with the vibe of the ’60s show, the video also features villains and characters from throughout Batman history.

Terry McGinnis from batman beyond, the “Damaged” Jared Leto Joker of 2016 suicide squad movie, and even a selection of rainbow homages to Batman Detective comics #241 – an issue where the Dark Knight has donned a series of not-so-dark costumes – all make appearances. The clip also ends with a young Bruce Wayne dancing with Thomas and Martha Wayne, who fall to the ground as BANG sound effects play on screen – ensuring that even in a goofy dance video, Batman has no parents. .

A Brief History of Batman ’66 and the Batusi

Batman debuted in 1966 and ran for three seasons and 120 episodes. Known for its campy take on the heroes and villains of Gotham City, the show’s funky theme song, written by Neal Hefti, is still an iconic piece of music associated with Batman. Remixes of the song were used in the 2016 and 2017 animated films Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders and Batman vs Two Faceswhich both took place in the world of the show and saw West and Ward reprise their roles, along with Julie Newmar as Catwoman.

The show also featured the Batusi in its first episode. A go-go-dance with a name referencing the Watusi, a popular series of moves at the time, the Batusi consists of Batman waving his fingers in front of his eyes. In addition to appearing in the Monster Truck Ninja TV video, the Batusi has become a meme that has appeared in everything from The simpsons to an episode of Titans.
