Antique dealers flock to Bouckville for the June Antique Show

BOUCKVILLE — Offering just a taste of what’s to come in August, Madison-Bouckville introduced pickers to its annual June Antique Show from June 3-5.

Hundreds of visitors walked along Route 20 to visit hundreds of vendors displaying antiques, vintage collectibles, oddities and more.

Sunday, the last day of the June show, turned out to be a sunny day drawing throngs of buyers equipped with their sun hats, shopping trolleys and cash – ready to strike a deal.

And there were offers. By the end of the weekend, sellers wanted stocks to run out, so discounts were flying.

Bargaining could be heard in most stalls as you passed.

Interesting discoveries

The range of merchandise is vast and diverse – that’s the norm for any Madison-Bouckville antique fair.

During the June market, a few items displayed by a vendor, Charles Yuhasz, included:

  • Wood stove (estimated early 1900) with removable cast iron cooking surfaces. Wood or charcoal could be used.
  • Tea caddy (estimated early 1900) decorated with a floral paper pattern. The box itself was made of balsam.
  • Japanese pinball machine (1950s estimate), designed to be mounted on a wall. The machine would have been coin operated and used silver brass balls during play.
  • Tractor wheel (1920s estimate) turned into a coffee table.

Yuhasz is part of Foothills Mercantile, which is a collection of over 50 vendors selling antiques, vintage pieces, collectables, gifts and more, located in Barneveld.

Antiques Week

The famous Madison Bouckville Antiques Week is scheduled for August 15-21. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, this show will feature more than 2,000 vendors covering a two-mile stretch of historic Route 20. Admission to the show with over 12 different independent exhibit fields is free.

The next shows in June and August are already scheduled for June 2-4, 2023 and August 14-20, 2023.
